JackSepticEye becomes latest YouTuber to make a horror movie with new indie flick ‘Godmother’
YouTube: SpediceyJackSepticEye is the latest in a growing list of YouTubers who are making their own horror films, following in the footsteps of colleagues like Markiplier and Christopher Stuckmann.
Irish YouTuber Sean ‘JackSepticEye’ McLoughlin announced the news in a tweet on December 16, which included a photo from the set, showing a woman wearing a white garment in what appears to be some sort of arcane ceremony.
“SURPRISE! I’m producing an independent horror film,” he wrote. Attached to his post was a screenshot of Collider’s report on the movie, which revealed the title as ‘Godmother.’
The flick is described as a ‘ritualistic indie thriller,’ starring 9-1-1’s Dee Wallace, Revival’s Paige Evans, Krypton’s Cameron Cuffe, Riley Dandy, and X-Men’s Bruce Davidson.

JackSepticEye isn’t the only influencer involved in the project; the film is being co-written by notable video games writer, streamer, and voice actor Alanah Pearce, who recently lent her talents to the character Malevola in AdHoc’s Dispatch.
Godmother is being directed by John Veron, best known for the short film A Suit and a Straight Razor. McLoughlin is listed as Executive Producer, with Craigh Sherwood, Nate Lipp, Eric Michael Kochmer. and Pearce also producing.
The movie follows a young couple who escape to the High Desert in Southern California for a weekend trip. Their vacation spirals out of control when two overly-friendly retirees with “dark designs” get a bit too close to them.
In the lead role is Paige Evans, who plays 28-year-old aspiring artist Theo Pettaway. Theo’s relationship with her supportive boyfriend, Colby, has been a major help as she navigates life trying to sell her artwork, feeling like she hasn’t yet achieved her goals in life.

McLoughlin shared a few more sneak peeks at the project over on Instagram, which included some behind-the-scenes photos taken during production.
“I’m very excited for you all to see it,” he wrote. “I was on set recently and it was incredible to see everyone pour so much love into the project.”
Thus far, little else is known about the film, but it’s safe to say that fans are ecstatic judging by the comments sections on JackSepticEye’s posts.
This latest news follows fellow YouTuber Markiplier’s self-produced horror flick, Iron Lung, scoring an official theatrical release earlier this month. Shortly after the premier, it was picked up by major chains like AMC Theaters, Cinemark, Regal, and others across the US, with plans for an international release sometime in the near future.
