Note: Use the ‘Filter’ boxes to quickly pull up which Pokemon or type you’re hunting for. Click on the ‘mon for details on how to unlock them and their stats, strengths, and weaknesses, or on their typings for a tier list on whether it’s the best of the best.

Are there abilities in Pokemon Legends Z-A?

No, it was confirmed at the Pokemon World Championships that Abilities are not included in Pokemon Legends Z-A. This decision greatly affects how Mega Evolutions work, since many strategies in past games relied on Ability effects.

The removal follows the approach seen in Pokemon Legends Arceus, where Abilities were also absent. This is due to the real-time battle system, which differs from the turn-based model used in the mainline titles. Here, players must instead focus on the moves’ power and cooldowns, as they have to deal damage while also dodging incoming attacks.
