How does Mega Evolving work?

Mega Evolution in Pokemon Legends Z-A has been adapted for the game’s real-time battle system. Now, creatures collect Mega Power Orbs during fights, and once the gauge is full, trainers can trigger the Mega Evolution mid-battle, transforming the Pokemon instantly.

Key differences compared to past generations:

• No Abilities: Since Abilities are not in the game, Mega Evolutions won’t come with their usual Ability changes. Their power boost instead comes from raw stat upgrades and potential typing changes.
• Timing: You choose when to trigger a Mega Evolution, but since battles are real-time, activating it at the right moment is crucial.
• Temporary transformation: Mega Evolution lasts for the duration of the battle or until the gauge is empty.

This system makes Mega Evolution more of a tactical momentum swing than a static power boost, fitting the fast-paced style of Pokemon Legends Z-A.
