All Legendary Pokemon in Pokemon Legends Z-A & how to catch them
Every Pokemon game features at least one Legendary, and Legends Z-A is no exception. Even though Zygarde has already taken center stage as the game’s main guardian, others can be found in Lumiose City, so here’s a rundown of how you can catch all of Pokemon Legends Z-A’s Legendaries.
Note: All Legendary Pokemon in Legends Z-A are obtained via the post-game Main Missions.
Pokemon Legends Z-A Legendaries
How to catch Xerneas
DEXERTO- Level: 75
- Location: Jaune District (Sector 10) – Wild Zone 11, near the river
- How to catch: Complete the post-game quest “The One That Gives“
For the Xerneas encounter, players will have to defeat the Fairy-type Legendary at Level 75 after completing the quest called “The One That Gives” during the postgame.
In it, you’ll be tasked with battling the following Alpha Pokemon, each of which is located in a specific zone:
- Alpha Steelix – Wild Zone 3
- Alpha Gallade – Wild Zone 5
- Alpha Pangoro – Wild Zone 9
With the quest completed, you’ll then be able to find Xerneas in Wild Zone 11.
How to catch Yveltal

- How to catch: Complete the post-game quest “The One That Takes“
For the Yveltal encounter, players will have to defeat the Dark/Flying-type Legendary at Level 75 after completing the quest called “The One That Takes” during the postgame.
Here, you’ll be tasked with battling three Rogue Mega Evolutions: Mega Victreebel, Hawlucha, and Tyranitar.

How to catch Zygarde
DEXERTO- Level: 84

- How to catch: Defeating it post-game after completing “To Keep the World in Balance“
Zygarde was the first Legendary officially revealed for Pokemon Legends Z-A, but unlike in X & Y, there are no Zygarde cells to collect. Instead, players can get Zygarde after defeating it as a three-phase boss battle at the end of the post-game quest “To Keep the World in Balance”.
You’ll need to make sure you’ve completed both of Xerneas’ and Yveltal’s missions before you can catch it yourself, though, so follow the steps below in order to get them.
How to catch Mewtwo
DEXERTO- Level: 70
- Location: Magenta District (Sector 2) – Lysandre Café (B2F)
- How to catch: Complete the post-game quest “Project M” obtained through the Mystery Gift feature.
For the Mewtwo encounter, players will have to defeat the Psychic-type Legendary at Level 70 after claiming the quest called “Project M” through the Mystery Gift code feature.
Here, you’ll be tasked with unlocking a dangerous project at Lysandre Café (B2F), resulting in a battle against the Legendary. Once you defeat it, you’ll be able to catch it and learn its full story.
With the quest completed and Mewtwo with you, you’ll be able to Mega Evolve to either Mega Mewtwo X or Mega Mewtwo Y, as you’ll receive both Mewtwonite X and Mewtwonite Y along with the mission.
Do we know about any other Legendaries?
Community leaks and data suggest that Legends Z-A could also feature other Legendaries and Mythicals, such as Hoopa or Volcanion, as they appear in the game’s code. Each might receive unique questlines or overworld events matching the game’s urban exploration theme.
