YouTube: TMG StudiosQTCinderella believes Twitch’s 1000 gifted subscriptions option is “bad news” as streamers have hit out at the Amazon-owned platform over it.
When it comes to subscribing to a Twitch streamer, viewers have a number of different ways to go about it. They can get Twitch Turbo, subscribe to a specific creator, or gift a number of subscriptions to other fans.
The maximum amount of gifted subs that one fan could buy had long been set at 100. That was raised to 200 at one point, too, and even shot up to 1000 at the end of November. That $5000 option came with a $1000 discount for gifters, but came under fire from a number of top streamers.
Asmongold threatened to “ban” anyone who gifted 1000 subs without providing proof that they made a seven-figure salary in the last year. Ludwig claimed it was designed to “suck more money from viewers.”
QTCinderella & Valkyrae weigh in on Twitch’s 1000 gift subs
Now, QTCinderella and Valkyrae have weighed in, with The Streamer Awards creators believing it is “bad news” to have.
“I don’t think anyone besides a brand should be using that,” QT said on the Wine About It podcast. “I think, if they want people spending more money, if you make like a 19 Crimes Twitch account then you can have the way to gift 1000 subs, so you can go around and try to promo your wine brand by gifting 1000 subs to people.”
Valkyrae suggested that you should have to “apply” to have the feature on your account.
“It should be on the gifter, not the receiver. I don’t want my viewer giving me 1000 subs,” QT added. “That’s $5000. You shouldn’t be able to click a button and spend $5000, especially on a person.”

Emiru and FaZe Lacy were the first two people to benefit from the new feature before it was ultimately removed.
We’ll have to see if Twitch brings the new gifted sub limit in the future or if they’ve pulled the plug on the feature completely. As it stands, the limit is back at 200 gifted subs.
