Hasan denies using shock collar on his dog after stream clip sparks mass backlash

Twitch streamer Hasan Piker has denied claims that he used a shock collar on his dog Kaya after a viral clip from his October 7 stream sparked outrage online.

In the clip, Kaya can be seen moving behind Hasan before letting out a sharp yelp. Some viewers alleged that the sound came from a shock collar being activated to stop her from leaving the bed area visible on stream.

Multiple creators criticized Hasan over the clip.

Streamer Tectone wrote, “I always wondered how Hasan kept his dog behind him all stream. It’s because he’s been using a shock collar on a setting so high that his dog f**king screams when he uses it. Using your dog as a prop to seem more friendly relatable and down to earth when in reality the dog isn’t sitting there of his own volition but stays there out of fear. I am beyond disgusted. F**k this man’s whole existence.”

Ethan Klein also commented on his Instagram story, saying, “Horrifying animal cruelty by Hasan as he activates her shock collar for one tiny step off of her bed. She cries in pain, poor baby. Always thought it was extremely bizarre that his young energetic pup never took a step off bed.”

Streamer LosPollosTV said, “F**k you @hasanthehun. Shock collaring that innocent dog for no reason just cause he wants to walk around? That’s not a f**king prop for your stream background that’s a living being. You’re a sick f**k.”

Hasan denies shock collar accusations

After noticing a wave of criticism in his stream chat, Hasan addressed the situation, denying the accusations. Sarcastically, he said, “Yes, I am incredibly abusive, to the not only best trained, but also the best behaving and most spoiled dog on the planet.”

He then claimed that the yelp was caused by an accident rather than a collar. “[The clip] is from when Kaya yelped? Yeah, she yelped because she f**king clipped herself on something when she was getting off the bed,” Hasan said.

Later in the stream, he addressed it again. “I gave her the place command while she was getting off, and then she yelped. She had broken the previous bed. I suspect it’s coming from some crazy haters. She yelped when she was getting off the bed, because I assume she either stepped funny or clipped her foot on something.”

Despite his denial, some remain unconvinced. Streamer Felix ‘xQc’ Lengyel has accused Hasan of “gaslighting everyone.”

“To have something in the middle of the camera happen and then try to gaslight everybody and say that it’s wrong, when it’s provable in live motion… It’s just dumb, I don’t get it.”

Lengyel also claimed that he would donate $50,000 to an LA animal shelter if Hasan showed viewers the collar that Kaya had been wearing on the day of the controversial stream.

Hasan shows off Kaya’s collar to disprove allegations

Commenters called for Hasan to show the make and model of the collar to disprove the allegations. On October 8, Hasan went live to do this, claiming that it is a vibration-only collar and theorized that her dewclaw, a vestigial claw on the back of dogs’ feet, might have gotten snagged on her bed.

“It has the capacity to vibrate and that’s it,” he said, holding it up in his hand for viewers to see. “There’s the AirTag. …it also has a flashlight component to it at nighttime, and it also has a tracker on it if she were to actually get lost. It emits a sound.”

xQc demands Hasan wear collar to prove it won’t shock

Despite Hasan’s explanation, xQc was unimpressed, demanding that he wear the collar and show viewers the controls to prove it really isn’t a shock collar.

“Come on, man!” he exclaimed in his own stream. “…I gotta be honest with you. Why does he keep putting fingers on it? Can we see the underside of it?”

xQc even raised the stakes, pledging to donate $50,000 if Hasan held up his end of the deal. Before long, however, xQc confirmed he’ll make the donation regardless.

“[We] found very reputable, no-kill shelters,” he told his stream on October 8. “I’ll donate anyway. I don’t care if he doesn’t show it, he wants to lie, whatever. I said I’d do something, I’ll do it anyway.”

For now, Hasan hasn’t responded to xQc’s latest claims, leaving fans wondering if he will donate to the shelter as he promised.
