Twitch / AsmongoldStreaming star Asmongold has claimed that Twitch is ‘spamming’ ads on his channel, but he’s not getting any extra money for it.
When it comes to making money from streaming, Twitch streamers have a number of different avenues. They get paid for fans subscribing to their channels, they get donations, sponsorships, and ad revenue.
The latter is incredibly lucrative, especially for streamers in the upper echelon of things. They can make hundreds of thousands from ads alone each month, especially if they’re running them regularly during a broadcast.
Some streamers choose to run a bank of ads at the top of each hour – just like a typical TV broadcast – while others will throw them out at any time. Some aren’t in total control of the ad output, leaving it up to Twitch’s settings to push them out.
Twitch alledgedly ‘spamming’ ads on Asmongold channels
According to Asmongold, the Amazon-owned platform has been ‘spamming’ adverts on his channel, but he’s not seeing any extra revenue from it.
“Ad time per hour? Seven seconds. Oh my God,” he said during a recent stream as he took a closer look at his stats. “I don’t get any f**king money. So, they spam ads on my channel.
“They’re running ads on my s*it and I don’t get any money. Crazy you don’t get Turbo too? I don’t Turbo, I don’t get anything.”
The former OTK member has been splitting time between Kick and Twitch in recent months, but a lack of income from Twitch isn’t a new thing.
He left his ZackRawrr channel unmonitized for the longest time, and only monetized it last December. Asmongold claimed that he was forced to accept partner status from Twitch as he was costing the Amazon-owned platform revenue by not having his channel be monetized.
