The fourth episode of the horror series continued its gruesome streak as Marge Trueman (Matilda Lawler) took a chisel to her own eyeball after thinking her eyes were growing out on stalks, like in the snail documentary shown in school. It’s a wild moment that will surely be one of the show’s most memorable scenes.
Not only that, but it finally added more context to Pennywise’s arrival and his clash with the Shokopiwah people, in a trippy scene where Dick Hallorann (Chris Chalk) uses his telepathic powers to look inside Taniel’s (Joshua Odjick) mind.
The show explains why Pennywise only hunts in Derry and didn’t leave the town: the Shokopiwah people trapped it there using shards of the meteorite that housed It when it crashed to Earth. So after that reveal, here’s when you can watch It: Welcome to Derry Episode 5.

Horror fans not in the US will have to stay up late to watch It: Welcome to Derry Episode 5, or they’ll have to catch up the next day to avoid spoilers. The fourth episode revealed that the meteorite shards can be used as a weapon against Pennywise, so it’ll be interesting to see whether the military get their hands on it.

Brooke Palmer/HBOThere are eight episodes in It: Welcome to Derry Season 1, and while HBO hasn’t officially renewed it for Season 2, Andy Muschietti has already revealed his three season plan for the show.
“The second season will be in 1935. At the end of Season 1, we are hinting at the reason why we are going to tell the story in two more seasons and backwards,” he told Deadline. Plus, he later explained that they’re going to dive further into the mythology around Pennywise that the book only hinted at.
I”T is a book that talks about the other dimension, the Macroverse, but only from the perspective of humans, he told CinemaBlend. “So we don’t really fully understand what’s on the other side. So we are aiming for a bigger reveal of a larger story, a larger mythology, and a larger understanding of what IT is and what IT wants.”
