The Boys creator explains how Gen V sets up Season 5

Eric Kripke says that Gen V Season 2 ends in a way that is “really setting up” The Boys Season 5.

The spinoff series has explored the way Vought and Homelander (Antony Starr) have exploited the supe youth of America at Godolkin University, with the second season revealing that Thomas Godolkin (Ethan Slater) had a nefarious plan for the kids with less-than-desirable powers.

It also came with the surprising revelation that Marie Moreau (Jaz Sinclair) was born as a result of project Odessa, the same program that gave Homelander his powers. This puts her in a uniquely powerful position, as she’s one of the few heroes who might be able to damage the twisted supervillain.

But outside of Marie’s powers, Kripke revealed how Gen V will kick things off in The Boys Season 5.

The Resistance is on the backfoot when The Boys Season 5 starts

Kripke praised Gen V showrunner Michele Fazekas for her work on the finale, explaining that the gang officially joining Starlight (Erin Moriarty) and the resistance leads right into The Boys.

“What I think Michele Fazekas has done such a good job doing is just really setting up that there’s this birth of resistance,” he told TheWrap. “That there’s this underground that is fighting back against Homelander’s America. This kind of fascist government.

“We talked a lot about things like the French Resistance, like a real underground that’s trying to hit back.”

He went on to say that The Boys Season 5 will take place half a year after Gen V Season 2, and things aren’t looking good for the heroes.

“The Boys Season 5 picks up about six months after Gen V Season 2 ends. We really throw the audience right into the middle of it,” he continued. “This kind of underground versus this sort of fascist government, and how it’s all going. Spoiler alert: not well.”
