Stranger Things message is for “responsible citizens of Hawkins”
NetflixWhen Eleven is first glimpsed during Season 5, she’s in hiding and following a strict training regime in preparation for a battle with Vecna in the Upside Down.
During Episode 1 – titled ‘The Crawl’ – there are posters on the walls of Hawkins High School that state she is “missing teen” Jane Hopper, and offer a “reward for information leading to the location of missing child.”
A phone number is listed at the bottom of the flyer – 765-303-2020 – and when Entertainment Weekly phoned the number, they got a pre-recorded message which says, “Thank you for contacting Hawkins Police Department… due to the recent 7.4 magnitude earthquake, Hawkins is currently under lockdown to ensure the safety of our residents.”
The message continues: “The Hawkins Emergency Task Force is working closely with the Hawkins PD to track down missing persons, of which Jane Hopper is a priority.
“We urge you, as a responsible citizen of Hawkins, to assist out search to locate her.” The message then disconnects.
