NetflixIf you logged into Netflix earlier today to watch the Squid Game: The Challenge Season 2 finale, only to find no new episodes, you’re not the only one. There’s a slight delay to the release time, but it’s an intentional one.
Much like the original Squid Game, the reality spinoff sees 456 players battle it out in a series of intense children’s games. It’s been a roller coaster so far: Mingle led to a mutiny, a simple game of catch became an emotionally wrought battle, and Snakes and Ladders ended in tears.
That’s what happens when $4.56 million is up for grabs. Mai Whelan was the winner of the life-changing cash prize in Season 1, and soon enough we’ll find out who’s next in line out of the five remaining players.
While we have our predictions of who might take home the gold, no one can know for certain until Squid Game: The Challenge Season 2 Episode 9 arrives. So, when can you watch it?
Squid Game: The Challenge Season 2 finale release date & time
The final episode of Squid Game: The Challenge Season 2 lands on Netflix on Tuesday, November 18, at 6pm PT / 9pm ET.
This may vary depending on where you are in the world, so be sure to take note of when it drops in your region:
- 11pm Brazil – November 18
- 2am UK – November 19
- 4am CEST – November 19
- 7:30am India Standard Time – November 19
- 1pm Australia – November 19
- 3pm New Zealand – November 19
Why is Episode 9 delayed?
NetflixAs said, the reason isn’t due to any technical issues. It’s simply so that US viewers can watch the finale live. Squid Game: The Challenge Season 1 followed this same pattern.
Netflix normally releases shows at 12am PT / 3am ET, but with the finale being such a monumental event, the streaming service has decided to buck the trend so that its biggest viewership pool can watch it at a regular time and avoid spoilers. As Netflix said in the finale trailer, “Watch together.”

This does, of course, mean viewers elsewhere will have to either stay up late, wake up early, or switch notifications off until they’ve watched Episode 9.
Who are the finalists?
NetflixUnlike Season 1’s three finalists, there are five players heading into the finale. They include:
- Player 302 (Dajah)
- Player 183 (Steven)
- Player 398 (Trinity)
- Player 17 (Agnes)
- Player 72 (Perla)
However, as is revealed in the Episode 9 preview, not all of them will make it to the final game. As they sit down wearing tuxedos for a dinner, there will be another test, one that looks similar but not identical to Season 1’s final test.
The clip suggests one contestant will be eliminated, leaving four to battle it out in the last game. Oh, and the Red Light, Green Light doll will be making her triumphant return.
In the meantime, check out all the Squid Game challenges so far (ranked by difficulty), if Squid Game: The Challenge is scripted, and the new shows coming to Netflix this month.
