Quentin Tarantino reveals why Fortnite animation Yuki’s Revenge was “too crazy” for Kill Bill

Quentin Tarantino’s ‘lost chapter’ from Kill Bill is now available in Fortnite, and the writer-director has been explaining how it came to be, as well as why ‘Yuki’s Revenge’ didn’t make it into the original cut.

2025 is a big year for fans of Kill Bill. Volumes 1 and 2 have been combined for forthcoming theatrical release Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair, which hits screens on December 5.

While an animated sequence that was written for the movie, but never shot, has now been animated and dropped into Fortnite.

Tarantino recently debuted ‘The Lost Chapter: Yuki’s Revenge’ at the Vista Theater in Los Angeles, then participated in a post-screening Q&A where he explained the genesis of the short…

How Fortnite convinced Quentin Tarantino to debut lost Kill Bill chapter in game

Yuki’s Revenge follows the titular twin sister of Gogo Yubari as she stalks Uma Thurman’s The Bride to avenge her sister’s death. When asked why it wasn’t included first time around., Tarantino explained (via THR): “We couldn’t do it, it was just too crazy, it was just too much action.” 

But then decades later, the Fortnite opportunity arose during a conversation with Epic Games. Tarantino explains: “I showed up to the meeting thinking that they would want to license characters and they want to get my ideas about what could be a fun thing to do. But no, they had something else in mind.

“They very innocently asked me, ‘Do you have something that’s, like, eight to 12 minutes long that could be good for our purposes?’ Now they didn’t say, ‘Can you make sure that your iconic characters are wrapped up inside of that?’ But that was implied.”

QT dug out the missing pages from his script, sent them to Fortnite, and they got to work, with Uma Thurman reprising her role of The Bride, and Quentin Tarantino playing Bill (following the death of original star David Carradine).

But don’t panic if you aren’t a gamer/Fortnite fan, as Yuki’s Revenge is also part of The Whole Bloody Affair, which hits cinema screens this week.
