From the streaming debut of MTV’s Predators to 50 Cent’s Diddy docu-series, here’s your guide to the new documentaries and true crime titles hitting Netflix, Hulu, Disney Plus, Max, and more in December 2025.

Can you believe 2025 is nearly finished? It’s been another strong year for true crime content, with Netflix titles such as American Murder: Gabby Petito, Amy Bradley is Missing, and Unknown Number: The High School Catfish all dominating conversations amid their respective releases.

Dramatizations have also rolled in thick and fast – Good American Family, The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox, Monster: The Ed Gein Story, and Murdaugh: Death in the Family are just a few examples of shows based on high-profile cases that have dropped over the past 12 months.

But there’s still one month left to go, and while it’s a quiet few weeks, all streaming services have something unique to offer, with plenty of real-life stories and shows still making their streaming debut. So, here’s a rundown of all the new documentaries and true crime shows to mark in your calendar.

What to watch this month on streaming – Our picks

Sean Combs: The Reckoning – Netflix

  • Release date: December 2
  • Regions: Everywhere
  • How long is it? 4 episodes

50 Cent has been teasing his Diddy documentary for months, and now it’s finally here. The four-part docu-series explores Sean Combs’ rise in the music industry and his dramatic fall from grace, with explosive, never-before-seen materials – including footage from the days leading up to Combs’ indictment and arrest, and exclusive interviews with those formerly in his orbit.

Predators – Paramount Plus

  • Release date: December 8
  • Regions: Everywhere
  • How long is it? 1 hour 36 minutes

There’s been much anticipation for Predators ever since its world premiere at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival, where it was cited as one of the event’s best titles. The documentary centers on the rise and fall of the TV show To Catch a Predator, the hugely popular yet deeply controversial NBC series that staged sting operations to expose alleged sexual predators on camera.

As well as highlighting the issues with the show itself, Predators examines how it popularized vigilante justice that blurs the lines between journalism, legal procedures, and entertainment. It features interviews with a number of the former decoys, alongside clips and unseen raw footage from the series and an interview with host Chris Hansen.

The Secrets We Bury – HBO Max

  • Release date: December 16
  • Regions: US
  • How long is it? 1 hour 24 minutes

Directed by Emmy-winner Patricia E. Gillespie, The Secrets We Bury follows a Long Island family as they confront a mystery that has haunted them for more than half a century: the disappearance of their father, George Carroll, who walked out of their home in the 1960s and was never seen again. For decades, the siblings were discouraged from asking questions, until an eerie chain of clues pushed the youngest, Mike Carroll, to start digging beneath the family home.

For the first time, the Carroll family speaks in depth about the discovery that made national headlines in 2018, reflecting not only on the investigation itself but also on the generational trauma left in its wake. Blending emotional interviews, archival home footage, and the tense unravelling of a long-buried truth, the film explores how far a family will go for answers, and what happens when the past refuses to stay hidden.

Evil Influencer: The Jodi Hildebrandt Story – Netflix

Ruby Franke and Jodi Hildebrandt, as shown in IMPACT x Nightline: Ruby Franke: A Momfluencer's Double Life?
  • Release date: December 30
  • Regions: Everywhere
  • How long is it? TBC

There have been a wealth of new documentaries on the Ruby Franke and Jodi Hildebrandt case this year, from Hulu’s Devil in the Family: The Fall of Ruby Franke to ID’s Ruby & Jodi: A Cult of Sin and Influence. The case has drawn such widespread attention not only because it’s still fresh, but also because it exposes a growing crisis around child influencers and exploitation.

Now, it’s Netflix’s turn, with Evil Influencer: The Jodi Hildebrandt Story set to dive deeper into the disturbing dynamic between Franke and Hildebrandt. While specific details remain under wraps, the documentary is expected to examine how their influence spiralled into manipulation, control, and child abuse.
