Lost episodes of Joey’s forgotten Friends spinoff finally released after 20 years

Friends character presents his Joey cast.

The Friends spinoff that focussed on Joey Tribbiani was cancelled midway through Season 2, but now you can finally watch those unaired episodes.

Friends is one of the most popular, acclaimed, and successful sitcoms of all time, and old episodes still attract huge audiences wherever they stream or screen.

So it’s no surprise that a spinoff followed, with ‘Joey’ concerning the exploits of Matt LeBlanc‘s dopey lothario as he tries to launch his acting career in Hollywood.

There were 46 episodes of Joey, but only 38 aired, with the missing instalments shelved. Now however, there’s a way to watch those missing final eight.

How to watch lost Joey episodes for free

The eight concluding episodes of Friends spinoff Joey are now available for free on YouTube, alongside the preceding 38 instalments.

The series saw Joey swapping New York for Los Angeles, where he reconnects with sister Gina (Drea de Matteo), and hangs out with his genius nephew Michael (Paul Costanzo).

Joey launched to much hype in September of 2004, and attracted a huge audience of 18.6 million viewers. But the show’s numbers steadily declined, resulting in Joey being cancelled midway through Season 2.

But now every episode is available on the Friends YT channel, with the lost eight as follows:

  • Episode 39: ‘Joey and the Dad’
  • Episode 40: ‘Joey and the Party for Alex’
  • Episode 41: ‘Joey and the Big Move’
  • Epuside 42: ‘Joey and the Beard’
  • Episode 43: ‘Joey and the Critic’
  • Episode 44: ‘Joey and the Actor’s Studio
  • Episode 45: Joey and the Holding Hands’
  • Episode 46: ‘Joey and the Wedding’

As for why Joey failed, Executive Producer Kevin S. Bright told The Age in 2006, “On Friends, Joey was a womaniser but we enjoyed his exploits. He was a solid friend, a guy you knew you could count on. [In the spinoff] Joey was deconstructed to be a guy who couldn’t get a job, couldn’t ask a girl out. He became a pathetic, mopey character. I felt he was moving in the wrong direction, but I was not heard.”
