First footage of the Legend of Zelda live-action movie has surfaced online, with a New Zealand set video appearing to show Bo Bragason in costume as Princess Zelda.

A short reel posted by content creator Tonyolsenfilm on Instagram shows a costumed Bragason walking through a wooded area toward another woman handling horses and a sword. Fans instantly connected the setting to the Legend of Zelda film, which is currently shooting in New Zealand ahead of its 2027 release.

The live-action adaptation stars Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link and Bragason as Zelda, with Wes Ball directing and Nintendo collaborating closely on production. Filming locations have not been officially announced, but production listings and local reports have pointed to New Zealand as a primary shoot site.

First on-set footage shows possible Zelda and Impa scene

The brief Instagram clip shows Bragason in a light-colored costume resembling Zelda’s Breath of the Wild design as crew members guide her across the forest set. She approaches a woman dressed in darker clothing, flanked by several horses and holding a sword. Commenters quickly speculated the woman could be Impa, a recurring character across the Zelda series who often serves as Zelda’s protector.

The footage has no audible dialogue, and the video was captured from a distance with visible cameras and crew surrounding the actors. Tonyolsenfilm did not provide additional context, but the costumes and staging sparked immediate discussion across social platforms.

While Nintendo and Sony Pictures previously revealed only the lead actors and release date, this appears to be the first public look at characters in costume on set. No official stills or teasers have been released, and the studios have not commented on the footage.
