What time is Fallout Season 2 Episode 1 out? Surprise release date explained

An image of a man walking in a warehouse wearing large silver Power Armor, there is a red symbol on its chest. On the right, is a Black man wearing a red flight jacket with combat trousers. There are other men dressed similarly behind them.

Fallout Season 2 Episode 1 is finally bringing audiences back to the post-apocalyptic wasteland, and expectations are high for the second chapter of Lucy MacLean’s (Ella Purnell) adventure, as she tries to stop her father (Kyle MacLachlan) from causing even more chaos in the new world.

Not only that, but the big draw for fans this season is that it’s bringing the city of New Vegas to life from the beloved 2010 game of the same name. So prepare for Easter eggs, cameos, and references galore! Although how the city plays into Hank’s plans remains to be seen, but the show also introduces Justin Theroux as the mysterious Mr. House, the billionaire tech genius who likely has some nefarious plans of his own.

The Fallout Season 2 trailer also revealed a better look at a Deathclaw in live action, including Maximus fighting one in the streets in his Power Armor… So it’s safe to say that these episodes are going to be action packed.

But Prime Video recently announced that it’s dropping the first episode of the new season a little earlier to celebrate the holidays, so here’s what time Fallout Season 2 Episode 1 is out.

Fallout Season 2 Episode 1 release date & time

Fallout Season 2 Episode 1 will start streaming on Prime Video at 6pm PT/9pm ET on Tuesday December 16. Here’s what time it streams in other timezones:

  • 11pm Brazil
  • 2am UK
  • 3am Central European Summer Time
  • 4am Eastern European Summer Time
  • 7.30am India
  • 11am Tokyo
  • 1pm Sydney

The streaming service announced that the premiere would be released a day earlier than the original planned date as a treat for the holidays. This isn’t the first time that a streaming service has surprised fans by moving things up. HBO Max did the same thing with It: Welcome to Derry and dropped the second episode early for Halloween.

Prime Video made the announcement using the Sphere in Las Vegas (of course) which was themed like a snowglobe with a radscorpion inside it that stung the sign to reveal the new date. We already know that radscorpions will appear in Fallout Season 2, so that’ll be fun and not at all scary for Lucy, The Ghoul, and Maximus…

How many episodes are there in Fallout Season 2?

There are eight episodes in Fallout Season 2, the same amount that were in the first season. However, since Prime Video has realized how popular the initial batch of episodes were, it has shifted its release model from dropping the whole season at once to a weekly release.

So that means fans will have two months of Fallout episodes to watch every week instead of binging it all on the release date. That means that Fallout Season 2 will end on February 4, 2026.

Fans will remember that the first season ended with the cliffhanger of Hank stomping towards New Vegas in his Power Armor before crushing the Deathclaw skull, so it seems likely that Prime Video will have another jaw dropping tease to end things on.
