Marvel / NetflixWith Fantastic Four, the MCU has taken its first steps into Phase Six – and if you’re feeling out of the loop or curious about what’s ahead, this is a breakdown of every Marvel movie and TV show in development.
From Fantastic Four: First Steps ushering in Marvel’s first family to Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars bringing together countless heroes, the MCU is barrelling forward.
Things are a little slower over on Disney+ as the MCU slows its roll to try and focus on quality over quantity, but a couple of superhero TV shows fill out the schedule.
Here’s what’s coming next in Phase 6.
Upcoming Marvel TV shows
Wonder Man (January 2026)
Shang-Chi director Destin Daniel Cretton is teaming up with Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Community’s Andrew Guest to bring one of Marvel’s oldest characters to the small screen.
Wonder Man – real name Simon Williams – was originally introduced in the comics in 1964 as an industrialist rival to Tony Stark who gained “iconic energy” powers from Baron Zemo. While he fought the Avengers several times, he eventually joined the team and founded its West Coast division.
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II will play Williams, a struggling actor in the MCU who gets cast as the lead character in a Wonder Man reboot. But that’s challenging because who wants to watch superhero movies in a world where they fly past your window?
Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 (March 2026)
Disney+The first season is one of the best TV shows the MCU has ever produced. Next year, Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 will continue the story, and the stakes are high.
After all, the season ended with Mayor Fisk outlawing vigilantes across New York City and Matt Murdock and Karen Page planning to gather an army. Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones is confirmed to return, and the other Defenders are rumored to appear too. But, if we’re really lucky, maybe Spider-Man will get more than a mention this time.

Speaking to Brandon Davis, Aaron Moorhead and Justin Benson said: “As we begin Season 2, we get to see what that’s like, to see [Daredevil and Kingpin] fully self-actualized… they are at one within their skin. Matt is probably at his happiest being able to just wail on Fisk’s bad guys.
“He’s happy and that’s dark… we’re not starting Season 2 with everything in its right place.”
The leaked teaser for Season 2 showed Jessica Jones alongside Matt as Kingpin rules New York, and Marvel confirmed that the show returns in March 2026.
VisionQuest (2026)
Disney+That’s right, Vision is getting his very own series on Disney+. Following the success of WandaVision, Paul Bettany is set to return for more in 2026 from Star Trek: Picard producer, Terry Matalas.
The series will finally look at what happened to White Vision after the Westview incident, and at New York Comic-Con, Paul Bettany teased that it’s a journey of self-discovery for the synthezoid.
“Red Vision gave White Vision all of his memories, including all of his memories from within the hex,” Entertainment Weekly reported. Bettany added that the story sees White Vision “attempt to connect to those memories and who he was… But with lasers!”
The outlet also described the teaser footage that played to the audience, revealing that James Spader will reprise his role as the iconic genocidal AI, Ultron, in both his human form and his robotic body. He’ll be joined by the personifications of J.A.R.V.I.S. (James D’Arcy), F.R.I.D.A.Y (Orla Brady), and E.D.I.T.H. (Emily Hampshire).
Not only that, but Ruaridh Mollica will play the adult version of Tommy, Vision’s son, who was last seen in WandaVision.
The Punisher Special Presentation (2026)
Disney+After Jon Bernthal’s return in Daredevil: Born Again, Marvel is letting him off the leash in a brutal Special Presentation.
“I feel like it’s opened the door to getting closer to the Frank Castle that I really, really want to portray,” Bernthal told EW.
The actor is heavily involved behind the scenes of the special, writing the script and collaborating with director Reinaldo Marcus Green (We Own This City, King Richard).
“I went through the process. I went in, I pitched, I gave an outline before I even put pen to page, and I felt like I did not want them to just hand it to me,” he explained.
“They had read some of my writing, asked to come and do a pitch, so I did. And they’ve held me accountable to every step along the way. I really want to earn this and I really want this to be good. The story that we’ve laid out is, I think, really special.
“It’s the visceral, psychologically complex, unforgiving, no-holds-barred version of Frank where he’s going to turn his back to the audience. And nothing is easy and all violence has a cost, and we’re going to see that cost. I’m grateful that they’re letting me go to the places that I really want to go.”
X-Men ’97 Season 2 (Summer 2026)
Disney+Yes, the mutants are back for more animated adventures in X-Men ’97 Season 2. The first season, which picked up from the original X-Men animated series from the 1990s, ended with the team scattered throughout time.
Cyclops and Jean Gray are stuck in the year 3960 A.D., while Professor X, Magneto, Rogue, Nightcrawler and Beast are trapped in 3000 B.C. in Ancient Egypt.
The team in the past also have to contend with a young version of Apocalypse, the big bad who frequently battles the mutants.
The show will return in Summer 2026, but a specific release date hasn’t been announced yet.
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 2 (Late 2026)
Disney+Another animated project making its return to Disney+ will be Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, and its sophomore season will bring Gwen Stacy and Venom into the fold when it arrives in late 2026.
Fans at New York Comic-Con got a glimpse of the trailer, which confirmed the returns of Norman Osborn, Scorpion, Doctor Octopus, and Chameleon, Variety reported.
Charlie Cox will also voice Daredevil for his second appearance in the show.
Untitled Nova project (TBA)
Marvel ComicsMarvel was set to develop a spinoff series focusing on Nova, with Moon Knight writer Sabir Pirzada attached. Despite Marvel’s head of streaming, animation, and television Brad Winderbaum confirming it was still being developed in 2024, the story has since changed.
In a February 20, 2025 report, Deadline claimed Marvel has put the Nova project on hold indefinitely. According to their sources, the show was never officially greenlit, but may still see the light of day eventually.
“We have a new system behind the scenes at Marvel Studios,” Winderbaum told Phase Zero.
“We’re more like a traditional studio now. We’re developing more than we actually will produce. There are plans to develop Nova. I love Nova, too. I love Rich Rider – I hope it gets to the screen. The world is always chaos. There’s always things. You gotta conjure these things to make them happen but I would love to see a Nova show, one day.”
Many fans expect the possible series would follow the origin of Richard Rider’s Nova, a New York teenager given a cosmic helmet and uniform by a dying member of the Nova Corps, an intergalactic military force earlier seen in both Guardians of the Galaxy films.
Upcoming Marvel movies
Spider-Man: Brand New Day (July 31, 2026)
Sony PicturesSpider-Man: No Way Home was the perfect conclusion to the Homecoming trilogy. Not only did it bring back Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire’s wall-crawlers along with their villains, but it left Tom Holland’s hero where he belongs: living alone in New York, struggling to pay rent, anonymously swinging through the city. It was a clean slate.
Spider-Man 4 – titled Brand New Day – was soon confirmed to be in development, but with few announcements, it was starting to look like this version of Peter Parker’s story might have come to an end.
Then, in late 2024, the release date was finally confirmed. In October 2024, Tom Holland said [via Good Morning America]: “All I can tell you is that it’s happening. We are super close to having a creative, I think that is really worthy of the fans, but I think now we feel confident that the idea is strong enough that we can finally say that this is going ahead.”
Avengers: Doomsday (December 18, 2026)
Avengers 5, originally The Kang Dynasty, was meant to revolve around the titular villain: Kang the Conqueror, who appeared in Ant-Man 3 after his debut as He Who Remains in Loki. However, with Jonathan Majors now out of the role due to being found guilty of assault, things have changed.
Doctor Doom is now the antagonist, and Robert Downey Jr. is playing him. That’s right, Tony Stark is dead, but Victor Von Doom is far from it.
Doomsday will lead straight into Secret Wars and will feature a big lineup of characters. The Fantastic Four are confirmed to appear in both.
While initially set to hit the big screen much earlier in the year, on May 5, 2026, the film was hit with a delay shortly after production got underway.
Avengers: Secret Wars (December 17, 2027)
Avengers: Secret Wars will conclude one of the MCU’s biggest double whammies, set to come a year after Doomsday hits cinemas. It’d be sensible to expect an Infinity War-style cliffhanger in Doomsday to lead us into it.
The Russos are back to direct both Avengers 5 and 6.
Blade (TBA)
Marvel Studios, Reddit: iMizuriiWesley Snipes last appeared as Marvel’s fan-favorite Deadpool & Wolverine, reprising the role all these years later and even cheekily suggesting there will never be another Blade. Nonetheless, the MCU was set to introduce its version of the vampire hunter with Oscar-winner Mahershala Ali, first heard in the post-credits scene of Eternals as Dane Whitman (Kit Harrington) looks at the Ebony Blade.
However, a revolving door of rewrites and directors has led to delays. In October 2024, it was announced that Blade had been removed from its November 2025 release date, and has now been indefinitely delayed.
Shang-Chi 2 (TBA)
Marvel StudiosShang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings brought martial arts to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Late last year, it was announced that Destin Daniel Cretton had entered into a multi-year deal with Disney, which will see him return to write and direct Shang-Chi 2. There’s no release date at the time of writing.
Simu Liu and Awkwafina are both expected to return, as well as Meng’er Zhang as Shang-Chi’s sister. The first film’s post-credits scene teased some tangling with the Avengers down the line, but it’s unclear what will await the characters in the sequel.
Kevin Feige told ComicBook.com: “We certainly have many ideas of where to take them and where to put them. What’s so fun, we know the movie’s working when it’s not just the title character that people ask about, but it is the co-stars or the supporting players that people ask about.
“And in this movie in particular, that’s heartening because we think they’re spectacular, and we think they have great potential in the future.”
Armor Wars (TBA)
Marvel StudiosDevelopment on Armor Wars dates back as far as 2011 when Don Cheadle announced that work had begun on a War Machine movie. Nearly 10 years later, Kevin Feige announced an Armor Wars series on Disney+, with Cheadle returning as Rhodey.
Marvel earlier described the show as a “classic Marvel story about Tony Stark’s worst fear coming true: what happens when his tech falls into the wrong hands?” Then in 2022, it was announced that the project is transforming into a feature-length film.
Since then, there’s been almost no updates. In October 2024, Cheadle even said [via TVLine]: “I don’t know, I’m not sure where anything is right now. I think things are going through a lot of changes, and we’ll see what happens, we’ll see what it is.”
Black Panther 3 (TBA)
Marvel StudiosWhile not yet given the green light in a public sense, we know there have been plenty of talks surrounding a third Black Panther film. In fact, there have even been reports suggesting Chadwick Boseman’s T’Challa will be recast, bringing the character back in this new sequel.
Of course, it’s early days yet, but director Ryan Coogler is reportedly in the writing stage and has even discussed a role in the third film with Denzel Washington. It’s only a matter of time before we learn more about what the future holds for this beloved Marvel figure.
Untitled X-Men movie (TBA)
Secret Wars will conclude the Multiverse Saga, and the X-Men movie is expected to kick off the Mutant Saga.
There’s very little we know about the project at present, beyond Thunderbolts’ Jake Schreier being tapped to direct, Michael Leslie writing the script, and Stephen Broussard (Captain America, Iron Man 3, the Ant-Man movies) rumored to be producing.
The original stars from the Fox-verse are expected to reprise their roles (and possibly die) in Avengers: Doomsday, so expect a brand-new cast when the X-Men make their proper debut in the MCU.
