Bridgerton Season 4: Benedict revealed as new lead & everything else we know

Another regency-era love story will be the talk of the ton when the fan favorite Netflix romance drama returns, but what’s the Bridgerton Season 4 release date?

Since its inception, creator Shonda Rhimes has said she plans to adapt all of Julia Child’s books involving the Bridgertons. With Bridgerton Season 3, it was Colin’s time to shine in a friends-to-lover romance with Penelope.

Season 3 gave fans a lot of teasers on who could be the next lead between Francesca (Hannah Dodd) and Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson), as well as setting up some strife in Francesca’s love story.

Now we know it’s Benedict up to bat, and thankfully, there’s not much longer to wait – the release date is right around the corner.

Does Bridgerton Season 4 have a release date?

It’s been over a year since the previous season landed on Netflix, but in October the streamer finally revealed the Bridgerton Season 4 release date, confirming that the first part will arrive on January 29, 2026.

Fans will have to wait a month for the second half, which will presumably pick up after some kind of cliffhanger, as it’s set for February 26, 2026.

The news arrived as part of a teaser, which showed Benedict (Luke Thompson) and Sophie Beckett (Sophie Baek) both wearing masquerade ball outfits, when Sophie leaves behind her glove.

It’s fair to assume that Bridgerton Season 4 will be inspired by Cinderella, but sexier and with instrumental versions of pop songs.

Who’s in the Bridgerton Season 4 Cast?

Luke Thompson will return to play Benedict Bridgerton alongside Sophie Baek as his new love interest, Sophie Beckett, and most of the main cast will also reprise their roles as the Bridgerton brood.

What’s the plot of Bridgerton Season 4?

Sophie Baek as Sophie Beckett in Bridgerton Season 4, she's wearing a silver and lace masquerade mask.

Bridgerton Season 4 will finally tell Benedict’s love story with Sophie Beckett, as teased in Season 3.

Benedict hasn’t been one to look for romance in his pursuit of finding himself. In Bridgerton Season 3, fans saw him dive into his feelings for widow Lady Tilley Arnold (Hannah New) and explore his sexuality in a relationship with her and her friend Paul (Lucas Aurelio).

Season 4 will follow the events of Julia Quinn’s third Bridgerton book, An Offer from a Gentleman, which introduces a downtrodden maid, Sophie Beckett, who falls for Benedict at the masquerade ball.

She’s very much inspired by Cinderella, as she does housework for three other women and tries to hide her real identity from Benedict out of shame. She’s actually the illegitimate daughter of the Earl of Penwood, and she was cast away by his family out of shame.

Showrunner Jess Brownell previously told Tudum, “It felt important for him to explore the fullness of himself before he settles down. He is someone who has big appetites, and we wanted to see him living a big life before he goes into settle-down mode.”
