TikTok/UnsplashA woman has gone viral on TikTok after discovering around $2000 in a vintage piggy bank that she had bought for $10.99 at a thrift store.
Watching people shopping at thrift stores and picking up bargains on Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist has become one of TikTok’s most popular genres of content. Especially when the buyers eventually give an item a new lease of life before flipping it for big money.
These types of videos have attracted millions of views, and viewers are always trying their hand at attempting to replicate the success.
However, TikToker Miles8Katrina, who purchases vintage items, struck it big when she bought a piggy bank at Goodwill in December. “That’s not plastic, it’s wads of money. Holy s*it! I am shocked right now. I just counted all of this money, and there is $2028 that was inside this piggy bank,” she said.

That initial video, which was uploaded on December 4, has gotten close to 1 million views and sparked thousands of questions from viewers.
The TikToker has since followed it up with others, including one clip that’s gotten over 950,000 views about the oldest notes that she found.
That includes a number of bills from the 1990s, including a $100 bill that should be worth more if she sold it to a collector, and an autographed piece of cash. However, she has been unable to identify who actually signed the bill.
“I felt guilty for finding it. What if somebody accidentally donated this?” the TikToker added in another clip. “I did call the store, I did not tell them what I found, I just asked if anybody had called asking about a piggy bank, and they said no.

“So, I guess I’m keeping all of this? This is your sign to go thrifting, you never know what you might find!”
The videos have become one of TikTok viewers’ favorite bits of drama, with many urging Katrina to just splash the cash for the holidays.
“Someone cleaned out their grandmothers house and donated it. It’s yours happy holidays,” one said. “Don’t return it. You are spitting in the face of the universe and it will stop rewarding you,” another added. “If you feel guilty about the money; go fulfill some angel tree tickets!” suggested another.
