RobloxAccording to a report from Variety, Disney content will not be coming to Roblox anytime soon over fears of child safety.
Roblox is undeniably one of the biggest gaming platforms in the world, supporting thousands of different games from Blox Fruit, Steal a Brainrot, Uma Racing, and so much more. However, it’s recently been under fire over child safety fears, prompting large companies and even states to sue the Roblox over “failing to protect children.”
Shortly after, the company vowed to tackle these fears, implementing various age verification measures and speaking out about its focus on protecting children. Now, it seems one major company isn’t putting its content on the site until things change.
Disney won’t be on Roblox after deeming it not “a safe platform”
As originally reported by Variety, Disney is extremely hesitant to join in on the Roblox success that other big companies have seen.
An unnamed source told Variety that “Disney does not currently have a formal presence on Roblox and is not partnered in any official capacity with Roblox for games or IP licensing, though Disney has previously run campaigns” on the platform. This is “not just because of Disney’s revenue tied to Epic, but because Disney does not think Roblox is a safe platform at this time.”
DexertoAs many are aware, Disney’s presence on Epic Games’ Fortnite is nothing new, with its recent Simpsons collaboration bringing in “more new and returning Fortnite players in 48 hours than the game’s holiday season last year,” so it’s certainly seeing some substantial success from its collaborations with big gaming IPs.
However, they’re not coming to Roblox any time soon, so don’t expect to see any Simpsons or Disney princesses running around your favorite Roblox game. There’s no word whether the company will collaborate with Roblox when they deem it a “safe platform,” but for now, they’ll be primarily focused on Fortnite.
