The Pokemon Company / Crypton Future MediaPokemon fans are loving Legends Z-A’s new Mega Lucario Z, with many believing it has a clear resemblance to virtual popstar Hatsune Miku.
Mega Lucario Z was revealed on December 2, in a new Mega Dimension trailer that showed the form battling both Mega Lucario and Mega Raichu X. While we don’t know much about the Fighting/Steel type mon’s moveset, Legends Z-A fans certainly know a fellow Miku cosplayer when they see one.
Since the reveal, players have filled social media with posts pointing out how “Miku-coded” the new form looks, with fans saying the twin-tail turquoise fur, sleek silhouette, and positively blue design all bring the Vocaloid icon to mind.
Mega Lucario Z design is Miku in disguise
“I genuinely think, at least for me, I like this more than regular Mega Lucario. Also, it’s Hatsune Miku looking, [which] automatically makes it goated. Another added, “I do love the Anubis inspiration, though. Even if it reminds me of Hatsune Miku.”
Others even promised to name their Mega Lucario Z after Miku, honoring the twin-tailed idol in-game and promising to make her a star in Game Freak’s creature-collecting series.
The Pokemon Company / Crypton Future MediaWhile the Pokemon community was keen to revel in the Mikufication of Mega Lucario Z, it’s not the first time the series has been linked to the Vocaloid legend.
Back in September 2023, Pokemon and Hatsune Miku officially teamed up for the Pokemon feat. Hatsune Miku Project VOLTAGE collaboration, which released daily artwork and music videos themed around “What if Hatsune Miku was a _-type Pokémon Trainer?” across 18 Pokemon types.
