Best Ultra League team in Pokemon Go season 25

pokemon go best battle league ultra league team precious paths season

Competitive players looking for a bigger challenge in Pokemon Go‘s Ultra League should try out our recommended team if they want to become the Go Battle League champion.

With every new season, the three main tournaments in the game’s PvP – Great, Ultra, and Master – reset and the meta changes. This means every three months, trainers are forced to rebuild their teams and find new strategies to climb once again to the top of the table.

As only Pokemon under 2500 CP can participate, players must think carefully about the three chosen ones they’ll bring to the battling arena. So, to help out, we’ve gathered the ultimate fighters and designed the best team for the Pokemon Go Ultra League. Take a look!

Best team for the Pokemon Go Ultra League

pokemon go precious paths season ultra league best team lapras florges corviknight

Currently, the best team that can be used in the League includes Corviknight, Lapras, and Florges, as these are three of the strongest fighters, offering good coverage against most major League opponents.

Like most Steel-type Pokemon, one of Corviknight’s advantages is the many resistances it has. That, along with its very good Defense and Stamina stats, makes this a very difficult creature to take down.

Even though it’s the only Fast Move that doesn’t benefit from STAB, Sand Attack offers great coverage and has a very fast energy gain. As for the Charged Moves, Air Cutter is quite spammy, so it can help you take down the opponent’s shields. Plus, it benefits from STAB and has a 30% chance of boosting your Attack stat by 25%. Payback, on the other hand, is a coverage nuke all trainers using Corviknight should have as a secondary choice.

Lapras has incredible bulk and an impressive (and vast) move pool. And even though it would be better to play to its strengths by choosing only the moves that benefit from STAB, taking advantage of Psywave as the Fast Move is a must. It offers the most energy generation out of all the options, and it expands Lapras’s coverage.

Skull Bash, Blizzard, and Hydro Pump are quite expensive moves. Instead, use Sparkling Aria for a solid Charged Move with STAB. It costs the same as Surf but does five more damage. Then use Ice Beam to get coverage against Grass, Dragon, and Flying opponents.

As a bulky ‘mon, Florges can stand its ground against its opponents. Plus, it has only two weaknesses and a good amount of useful resistances, including fan-favorites Dragon, Fighting, and Dark.

Fairy Wind has high energy generation and benefits from STAB, so it’s an easy Fast Move choice. For the Charged Move, mix it up with Chilling Water to decrease the target’s Attack stat by 20%, and use Trailblaze to boost your Attack stat by 25% while also expanding your coverage.

Alternatives

If you don’t have access to either of those three Pokemon you can switch them:

  • Corviknight: switch it for Registeel or Steelix.
  • Lapras: switch it for Jellicent or Feraligatr.
  • Florges: switch it for Clefable or Tinkaton.

In case you come across an opponent that targets your team’s weaknesses, we have a long list of other powerful creatures that can help you dominate the Ultra League.

Best Pokemon for Pokemon Go Ultra League

Lickilicky (XL)

  • Fast Move: Rollout
  • Charged Moves: Body Slam and Shadow Ball
  • Type: Normal
  • Resistances: Ghost
  • Weaknesses: Fighting

The bulky Lickilicky is a very solid choice for Ultra League, as it only has one weakness and its move pool allows it to hit a wide range of types with Normal, Shadow, and Rock attacks.

Rollout is a move that offers fast charge, so Lickilicky can access both Charged Moves faster. Body Slam can be used as shield bait, while Shadow Ball works as a coverage nuke to target league favorites Giratina and Cresselia.

Virizion

virizion
  • Fast Move: Double Kick
  • Charged Moves: Leaf Blade and Sacred Sword
  • Type: Grass/Fighting
  • Resistances: Ground, Rock, Water, Grass, Electric, and Dark
  • Weaknesses: Flying, Poison, Fire, Psychic, Ice, and Fairy

The Legendary Virizion is the only Grass-type Pokemon on the list, and even though it could be a bad option due to its Flying, Ice, and Fairy weaknesses, having Fighting as a secondary type helps a lot.

Virizion is a great attacker and lead, so you might want to consider that when building your team. More so, its high Defense and good Stamina stats make this a very bulky creature that can last long, while using both Leaf Blade and Sacred Sword to force the enemy shields.

Togekiss

Togekiss in Pokemon GO
  • Fast Move: Peck
  • Charged Moves: Aura Sphere and Dazzling Gleam
  • Type: Fairy/Flying
  • Resistances: Bug, Dragon, Fighting, Ground, Dark, and Grass
  • Weaknesses: Electric, Ice, Poison, Rock, and Steel

Togekiss is another great all-rounder to bring into the League, thanks to its amazing type coverage – it has access to six different types in its Charged Move pool.

We recommend using Peck as a Fast Move as it is fast and cheap. For the Charged Moves, go with Aura Sphere to expand your coverage and bait the opponent’s shields. Then, use the nuke Dazzling Gleam to deal devastating Fairy-type damage with STAB.

Gastrodon (XL)

Gastrodon appearing in Pokemon Go
  • Fast Move: Mud-Slap
  • Charged Moves: Body Slam and Water Pulse
  • Type: Ground/Water
  • Resistances: Steel, Rock, Poison, Fire, and Electric
  • Weaknesses: Grass

Gastrodon didn’t use to be good at the Go Battle League, but thanks to the Mud-Slap buff and its very high Stamina, things changed for the dual Water/Ground-type creature. Plus, having only one weakness makes the water slug an even better choice.

Out of both Fast Moves, Mud-Slap is stronger, cheaper, and benefits from STAB. Body Slam is Gastrodon’s cheapest Charged Move, and due to how fast it is, it can be used to force the enemy shields while Water Pulse expands the coverage.

Forretress (XL)

pokemon go forretress
  • Fast Move: Volt Switch
  • Charged Moves: Rock Tomb and Earthquake
  • Type: Bug/Steel
  • Resistances: Poison, Grass, Steel, Psychic, Normal, Ice, Fairy, Dragon, and Bug
  • Weaknesses: Fire

Forretress is a solid choice for any team as it boasts numerous useful resistances, and it’s only weak to one type (Fire), which is not being played a lot during this season. Plus, it has a great Defense stat.

Bug-type moves are not good at all in Pokemon Go, so use Volt Switch as the Fast Move to expand the coverage and deal decent damage.

For the Charged Move, use Rock Tomb to decrease your opponent’s Attack stat and bait their shields. Then you can finish them up with Earthquake, a solid Ground-type nuke that saves you from your only weakness.

Malamar (Shadow XL)

Malamar in the Psychic Cup
  • Fast Move: Psywave
  • Charged Moves: Foul Play and Superpower
  • Type: Dark/Psychic
  • Resistances: Psychic
  • Weaknesses: Bug and Fairy

Malamar’s stats are pretty balanced, which is why it can work fine either as a lead or a closer. As a Dark/Psychic-type creature, it can take down big threats such as Lapras, Virizion, and Empoleon.

However, players need to be careful about its Fairy weakness, as there are pretty strong Fairy types ranking high this season, including Togekiss and Florges.

The Psywave, Foul Play, and Superpower combo has a fluid and dynamic matchup that allows Malamar to get STAB from both Psychic and Dark moves, respectively, while also expanding its coverage with a Fighting attack.

Regidrago

regidrago on a pokemon go background
  • Fast Move: Dragon Breath
  • Charged Moves: Dragon Energy and Hyper Beam
  • Type: Dragon
  • Resistances: Electric, Fire, Grass, and Water
  • Weaknesses: Dragon, Fairy, and Ice

The Legendary Regidrago might be a tad hard to get, but those who have one can exploit its good Attack stat, massive Stamina, and powerful Dragon-type moveset in the Battle League.

Go with Dragon Breath (multipurpose) and Dragon Energy (cheap and incredibly strong) for a powerful Dragon-type moveset that benefits from STAB. Then add the nuke Hyper Beam as a secondary Charged Move for more coverage.

Clefable (XL)

  • Fast Move: Fairy Wind
  • Charged Moves: Meteor Mash and Moonblast
  • Type: Fairy
  • Resistances: Dragon, Fighting, Dark, and Bug
  • Weaknesses: Poison and Steel

The key to winning Battle League encounters – or at least getting an advantage – is to access your Charged Moves fast so you can force your opponent to use their shields early on.

Clefable’s Fast Move Fairy Wind is very fast, and it benefits from STAB, so you can boost your Charged Moves quickly. Moonblast is a nuke with 130 damage, though it is quite costly and has a chance of lowering your Attack stat, while Meteor Mash is strong, cheap, and can expand your coverage.

Feraligatr (Shadow)

feraligatr pokemon
  • Fast Move: Shadow Claw
  • Charged Moves: Hydro Cannon and Ice Beam
  • Type: Water
  • Resistances: Steel, Fire, Water, and Ice
  • Weaknesses: Grass and Electric

This happy crocodile works perfectly as a charger or closer, thanks to its stats and moves. Despite its weaknesses, it can resist very used Pokemon types such as Steel and Fire, which is very handy.

Shadow Claw is an excellent Fast Move that helps Feraligatr expand its coverage while accessing its Charged Moves faster, as it has very high energy generation. Hydro Cannon is mandatory, as it is very cheap, has STAB, deals good damage, and can be spammed. With it, the opponent is forced to use their shields early on, leaving them defenseless for the rest of your team.

Then, you can add Ice Beam as the secondary Charged Move to target this Pokemon’s Grass-type weakness.

Empoleon

pokemon go empoleon
  • Fast Move: Metal Sound
  • Charged Moves: Hydro Cannon and Drill Peck
  • Type: Water/Steel
  • Resistances: Steel, Poison, Ice, Water, Rock, Psychic, Normal, Flying, Fairy, Dragon, and Bug
  • Weaknesses: Electric, Fighting, and Ground

This dual Water/Steel-type Pokemon has climbed the ranks in the League and sits at the top thanks to its powerful Attack and formidable Defenses. It serves as a great counter to Pokemon like Togekiss, Galarian Weezing, and Tinkaton.

Metal Sound is a good, fast charge move, which makes it very spammy. As for the Charged Move, Hydro Cannon is the way to go due to its high damage and very low cost. Plus, it’s one of the best Water-type moves in the whole game. If you can afford a secondary Charged Move, Drill Peck can help you expand your coverage.

Jellicent (XL)

pokemon go jellicent
  • Fast Move: Hex
  • Charged Moves: Surf and Shadow Ball
  • Type: Water/Ghost
  • Resistances: Normal, Fighting, Water, Steel, Poison, Ice, Fire, and Bug
  • Weaknesses: Dark, Electric, Ghost, and Grass

This gigantic jellyfish offers trainers an incredible bulk, along with a vast list of resistances that will keep it alive during an encounter.

Both of Jellicent’s Fast Moves are great options that benefit from STAB. While Bubble offers stronger Water-type coverage, Hex has slightly faster energy generation, as well as Ghost-type coverage.

To balance Hex, go with Surf as your Charged Move. It is not only really cheap, but it also deals great damage and benefits from STAB. As your secondary option, use the nuke Shadow Ball. If you need a different type of coverage, you can switch Shadow Ball for Ice Beam.

Galarian Moltres

pokemon go galarian moltres
  • Fast Move: Sucker Punch
  • Charged Moves: Fly and Brave Bird
  • Type: Dark/Flying
  • Resistances: Psychic, Ground, Grass, Ghost, and Dark
  • Weaknesses: Electric, Fairy, Ice, and Rock

Galarian Moltres is one solid choice to target some League champions like Feraligatr, Giratina, and Lapras. Plus, its bulky Defense stat can help it lead any team.

Sucker Punch is a little faster and cheaper than the other Fast Move, so go with it and spam it all you can to waste the enemy shields and build up your Charged Moves.

Brave Bird is very expensive and has a self-debuff, but it deals outstanding damage and has STAB, while Fly is relatively cheap and has good DPE.
