Highly anticipated GTA 6 feature could be coming early in next GTA Online update

Rockstar appears to be bringing a rumored GTA 6 feature to GTA Online for testing in the next update.

Grand Theft Auto fans still have just over a year to wait until GTA VI finally releases, with Rockstar delaying the game from May 2026 to November.

Despite the game reportedly being “complete,” additional months are needed to ensure the game can launch without the bugs and glitches that plagued other titles on release, such as Cyberpunk 2077.

While players may only get to experience the revamped world of Vice City and the state of Leonida in a year’s time, they’re also convinced that Rockstar is bringing a rumored feature to GTA Online as part of the ‘A Safehouse in the Hills’ update.

GTA Online could be testing a major GTA 6 feature

On November 20, Rockstar posted a trailer for GTA Online’s next big update.

“You’ve already built an empire. Now let Prix Luxury Real Estate erect your palace in GTA Online: A Safehouse in the Hills, coming this December,” the developer explained in a blog post.

The new update will let players “own the extravagant residence of their dreams” – something that has piqued the attention of the GTA 6 fandom.

Users voiced their excitement on social media, believing that the update will be used as testing for VI.

“It appears that the new mansions will have accessible interiors from outside removing the black screen required to enter a property,” one player suggested.

“I’m wondering if separate players in one lobby that own the same mansion will disappear to each other once in the same zone – ‘the new mansion in this case’ – so they can access their mansion from the outside without having the other players owning it from appearing in theirs.”

Multiple interiors is a concept many GTA 6 fans have been hoping for and Rockstar has filed patents for technology that can “procedurally generate building interiors” that will vary depending on the type of building a player enters.

Additionally, established leaker GameRoll, who revealed protagonists Jason and Lucia’s last names before Rockstar announced them, has also claimed that there will be over 700 stores and malls players can enter and rob.

Other players noted that GTA Online has been a “testbed for gameplay mechanics for a few years now,” so this latest update will likely be no different.

This comes as several clothing items for Grand Theft Auto 6 were apparently found in GTA Online’s newest update, with a leaker noting that code strings for the items resemble Rockstar’s work on Red Dead Redemption 2 and GTA 6, not GTA 5 or GTA Online.

GTA 6 may still be a year away, but Rockstar has said the delays are intended to make it the game players “expect and deserve.”

Meanwhile, insiders have made significant claims about how ambitious the open-world title will be, with one even stating that no other developer will match GTA 6 in 15-20+ years.
