GTA 6 is finally set to release in November 2026, and we may finally know why it’s taken so long. According to an established insider, Rockstar has made a game that no one else will match for multiple console generations.

It’s been over 10 years since Rockstar released GTA 5, and the gaming landscape has changed a lot since then, going from the PS3 and Xbox 360 to the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

While the studio released Red Dead Redemption 2 in the meantime, a title that many consider to be the best game ever made, fans have been obsessively awaiting GTA VI to finally launch.

Despite being delayed twice, reportedly to ensure Grand Theft Auto is able to release in a bug and glitch-free state, there could be another big reason why the game has taken so long: Rockstar’s quest for perfection and their pursuit to revolutionize the gaming medium.

In fact, one reputable insider claims that GTA 6 simply won’t be topped for many, many years to come.

Insider says GTA 6 is so ambitious, it’ll be untouchable for over 20 years

In a post on X, YouTuber and insider Reece ‘Kiwi Talkz’ Reilly, who warned of the second GTA 6 delay before it was announced, disputed claims that GTA 6 will just be GTA 5 2.0.

“It definitely isn’t GTA V 2.0 and people have no idea what they are talking about,” he said. “Some of the stuff I have heard Rockstar are doing with GTA 6 is super ambitious and it is unlikely any other developer will be able to match what they are doing for 15-20+ years.”

Although Reilly didn’t elaborate, patents and job listings from Rockstar have provided major clues for what Rockstar has in store for fans once GTA VI hits store shelves.

Back in 2021, a job posting for a VFX artist indicated that GTA 6 will “large scale” destruction such as skyscrapers crashing to the ground, and advanced weather effects.

Meanwhile, patents have suggested that GTA 6 will utilise AI technology to “procedurally generate building interiors.” NPCs will also reportedly behave more like real people and have their own unique responses to world events.

Established leaker GameRoll, who revealed protagonists Jason and Lucia’s last names before Rockstar announced them, has also claimed that there will be over 700 stores and malls players can enter and rob.

Of course, take all this with a grain of salt until Rockstar unveils more information in the months ahead, but until then, the hype for VI remains unrivaled. GTA 6 is set to launch on November 19 2026.
