A mechanical keyboard company from China has released a new “foot keyboard” designed to work with various games.

As tech gets fancier, gaming gear keeps getting weirder. If you’ve ever seen that one jeans keyboard, then a “foot keyboard” probably isn’t the strangest thing you’ve heard today.

Varmilo, a mechanical keyboard brand from China, just went ahead and made one. And yes, it’s exactly what it sounds like. It’s basically a keyboard designed to be placed on the floor, letting you press buttons with your feet.

It doesn’t look anything like a normal keyboard, but according to the description, it actually works for a bunch of game types, including “FTG, FPS, and racing games.”

So… how do you even use something like this? Basically, think of it as extra keys you can bind however you want. If you’re playing a game with a bunch of skills, you can slap one onto a foot button and free up your hands a bit.

Right now, the Foot Keyboard is up for preorder on Varmilo’s official site, and it comes in three versions. The first one has three individual keys, with one on the left, one on the right, and one in the middle.

It’s also the cheapest option, going for around $50 thanks to a current sale. The other models offer more buttons, including the 4-key single and the more distinct-looking 4-key dual. Naturally, they’re pricier than the 3-key version.

As for the specifics, the keyboard uses Cherry MX Silent Black switches and ABS keycaps. If you’re worried about accidentally pressing the button, the site specified that it has a 1.5mm activation point, 3.5mm total travel, with the switches requiring 60g “initial pressure” and 85g bottom out.

So it should be firm enough that you’re not accidentally stepping on anything. The keyboard also supports Bluetooth 5.0, 2.4GHz, and wired connections, allowing you to connect up to five devices and flip between them with a physical switch.
