DexertoThere’s one premium cosmetic item in Where Winds Meet that is the ultimate flex of wealth, as it could end up costing you as much as a brand-new car.
Free-to-play hit Where Winds Meet has proven incredibly popular, with two million players delving into the ancient Chinese-themed martial arts game within its first 24 hours.
With its blend of gorgeous environments, Soulslike bossfights, and comical minigames, Where Winds Meet now sits among Steam’s top 10 most played games.
While Where Winds Meet’s monetisation is focused entirely on cosmetics, there’s one outfit that takes the crown for being the most expensive: a skin that could set you back as much as $42,000, if you are unlucky.
Where Winds Meet skin that can cost as much as $42k
The skin in question is called ‘Celestial Mortal’ and requires players to build a ship in order to unlock it for their character. Celestial Mortal is positioned as an ultra-premium cosmetic, while the ship is a fully controllable personal vessel that doubles as a social hangout space.
On Chinese servers, the skin is known as a status symbol, with videos on Bilibili and Douyin showing players touring the ship and showing off the matching outfit.
The reason the price tag is so extreme comes from how the gacha system works, as players can’t purchase either item directly. Just like other popular games like Genshin Impact, players need to purchase premium currency and spend it on a ‘banner’ in the hopes of securing a rare drop.

DexertoUnlike regular banners, the Celestial Mortal outfit and the ship sit at the top rarity level, meaning the odds of pulling them are extremely low. If a player keeps missing, then the game eventually guarantees the reward through a mechanic known as “hard pity”.
As originally reported by Gamersky, Chinese players have calculated how many paid draws it takes to reach that guaranteed Hard Pity and then converted the required currency into real money. If someone hit every pull without getting lucky early, the full cost would reach around 300,000 RMB, which translates to $42,000, before the pity mechanic saves the day.
Most cosmetics in the global release sit well within standard premium pricing($20-$30), but this cosmetic will undoubtedly turn a few heads if you do take the pricey plunge.
