PlayStationHousemarque has lifted the curtain on Saros, a brand-new IP coming exclusively to PlayStation.
The reveal introduced players to Arjun Devraj’s journey across the shifting planet of Karkosa, with both cinematic story beats and a first look at gameplay. It is still early in development, but we already know what to expect from the studio’s follow-up to Returnal.
Here’s everything we know so far about Saros.
Release date
Saros is set to launch on April 30, 2026, which was confirmed during The Game Awards 2025.
The game’s been pushed back by about a month. Before this, it was scheduled for March 20, 2026, based on the September 24 State of Play.
The game will come out for PS5 and PS5 Pro. No word of PC, Xbox, or Switch ports yet.
Story
PlayStationDetails revealed via a PlayStation Blog post tease that Saros will be a “haunting story” about a lost off-world colony called Carcosa. The colony is shadowed by an “ominous eclipse” that will likely be pivotal to the game’s story.
Players will take control of Arjun Devraj (Rahul Kohli), a “powerful Soltari Enforcer who will stop at nothing to find who he is looking for.”
The narrative will combine a detailed, character-focused story with an exploration of the lengths humanity will go to to “create a new future.”
Gameplay
Housemarque’s Saros follows Arjun Devraj across the shifting planet of Karkosa. It builds on Returnal with faster combat, haunting environments, and a story rooted in survival and discovery.
