FIFA / NetflixA brand-new FIFA football sim has been officially announced, and it’s releasing on Netflix Games for free to all subscribers.
After the release of FIFA 23, football’s governing body and EA SPORTS ended its nearly 30-year-old partnership. This effectively meant the end of the FIFA games as we knew them, as the series was rebranded to EA SPORTS FC, and fans wondered where the next FIFA-licensed game would appear.
Now, we finally have an answer, as a new FIFA title has been confirmed, and it’s arriving exclusively on Netflix.
New FIFA game coming exclusively on Netflix
Revealed in a surprise announcement on December 17, the game is being developed by Delphi Interactive and arrives next summer, “just in time for the FIFA World Cup 2026.”
It will be exclusive to Netflix Games, meaning it won’t receive a standalone release on PlayStation, Xbox, or PC. If you’re already a Netflix subscriber, you can play it at no additional cost.
In terms of the actual game, we know very little about it, but it appears to be a tie-in with the World Cup itself. The announcement post explained that fans will be able to “experience the emotion and drama of the tournament in its purest, most joyful form — in a format that’s fast to learn, thrilling to master, and built for anyone to jump in.”
It will support online play if you prefer to go head-to-head with friends: “All you need is Netflix and your phone.”
The one gameplay feature we do know is that it will be played using your smartphone as a controller, rather than a traditional gamepad. So, it remains to be seen if it will bear any resemblance to the FIFA game produced by EA SPORTS.
While that’s all we know for now, more details are set to arrive in 2026, with the first World Cup match taking place on June 11.
