Larian Studios / The Game AwardsThe desert statue mystery has been solved. It turns out, Larian Studios was behind it all, as The Game Awards opened the door for a new entry in the Divinity franchise.
A new mystery began at the start of the month. A strange, otherworldly statue was spotted in the Mojave Desert and was soon shared by none other than Geoff Keighley. The Game Awards host triggered a great deal of speculation as fans theorized it could be a new God of War, a new Diablo expansion, or something else entirely.
After being relocated to Los Angeles, however, leaks began to clarify what it was actually for. Now, it’s officially been revealed at The Game Awards 2025, as Larian Studios has announced its next game.
Hot on the heels of a Game of the Year win in 2023 with Baldur’s Gate 3, the acclaimed studio is back with another entry in the Divinity series, described as their biggest game to date.
The trailer, chock-full of violence, savagery, and, well, more violence, starts as a fun little burning ceremony but soon erupts into utter chaos.
It turns out, that the statue in the desert was far more grotesque than any of us could have possibly imagined.
There’s little to go off for now, with no details on when the game may be available, but given it’s Larian, the team behind 2023 GOTY Baldur’s Gate 3, we’re certainly willing to remain patient.
