CapcomResident Evil fans have spent months wondering whether Leon S. Kennedy would appear in Resident Evil Requiem. Now they have their answer. He’s on the box!
Players began spotting new cover art on December 9 as the game’s pre-download went live for standard edition owners on PlayStation 5. The updated artwork shows a rain-soaked Leon S. Kennedy looming in the background, his face worn and weathered, with the same longer hair and harsher look he’s adopted in recent Resident Evil entries.
In front of him stands the game’s new lead, FBI agent Grace Ashcroft, who has been tasked with investigating the mysterious deaths at a hotel. IGN has since verified the artwork and confirmed the image is legitimate, so the legendary zombie slayer will be part of Resident Evil Requiem.
Leon S. Kennedy returns in Resident Evil Requiem
Capcom was originally set to show a “new look” at Resident Evil Requiem during The Game Awards on December 11. Instead, Leon’s return has surfaced early through a preload screen, stealing some of the spotlight before the big reveal.
The discovery has triggered a wave of excitement across the fandom, especially since early marketing focused almost entirely on newcomer Grace Ashcroft.
Capcom has not yet detailed Leon’s role in the story, but we do know that it’s centered on Grace as she confronts a fresh threat. Official information so far describes the game as a narrative-driven survival horror title built for current-gen hardware, with Requiem launching on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
