AdHoc / Quarter Up, Skybound EntertainmentThe team behind Invincible VS, the upcoming fighting game based on the comics and show, opened up to us about their thoughts on another popular superhero game: Dispatch.
Dispatch released in late 2025 to overwhelming praise from players and critics. AdHoc’s debut title follows former superhero Robert Robertson in his new job at SDN, an agency that ‘dispatches’ local heroes to help subscribers in both life-threatening and less serious situations.
AdHoc, made up of former TellTale alumni, proved that their storytelling skills have only leveled up since ‘The Wolf Among Us,’ weaving a gripping tale about a superhero down on his luck and thrust into a found family of reformed villains.
The game’s realistic depiction of what superheroes and villains would be like in modern society has been an especially popular talking point among players, and even other developers in the superhero gaming space.
Invincible VS team praises Dispatch’s voice work & writing
We got the chance to sit down with the team behind Invincible VS, a 3v3 tag fighting game from Quarter Up, who have similar experiences handling superheroes in a more realistic setting than traditional comics and films.
Invincible, much like Dispatch, follows heroes as they navigate through life, including messy relationship drama, legal issues, troubles in the workplace, and lots of blood and gore. In fact, the two drew quite a few comparisons on social media, with many wondering how Robert would fare in the Invincible universe and vice-versa.
When asked if they’d played Dispatch and what their thoughts were, Invincible VS narrative director Mike Rogers gave the game high praise.
“I’ve only gotten through the first couple of episodes so far, but it’s really cool to see how that team has expanded on Telltale-style storytelling,” he told us. “The voice work and writing are top-notch and it looks great.
“One of my favorite parts of the Invincible universe has always been how real things feel, whether it’s a bone-shattering battle or the mental toll in the aftermath. It’s always cool to see stories exploring more of the human side of superheroes. Much love to the Dispatch team.”
