Hytale director Simon Collins-Laflamme said upcoming early access versions of the long-delayed sandbox RPG will launch at an “aggressively low” price, explaining that charging more for its current state “didn’t feel right” after the project was saved from cancellation.

In a post on X, Collins-Laflamme said that since repurchasing the game from Riot, Hypixel had since rebuilt the project with a team of around 50 developers, taking on “significant” personal risk to bring the game back to life in the process.

Simon says Hytale “is not good yet” but the team aims to make it great

“I don’t think the game is good yet. My team and I will push hard to make it good, then great,” he continued, stressing that the team’s vision was clear and development had accelerated since Hypixel reacquired the project from Riot.

A post on Hytale’s official X page, to which Collins-Laflamme was responding, confirmed on November 21 that the game will be priced at $19.99.

He also said the low price is intended to make Hytale accessible to as many players as possible, wanting everyone to have “a fair chance to be part of what comes next” as the game enters its new phase of development.

Collins-Laflamme confirmed on November 17 that Hytale had been acquired from Riot Games, thanking the League of Legends creator for working with him to “make this happen.”
