Elder Scrolls 6 fans think they’ve found a release date hint & it’s like Silksong all over again
BethesdaElder Scrolls 6 fans have convinced themselves that the game is arriving in 2027, after spotting a ‘tease’ in Skyrim’s Nintendo Switch 2 trailer.
In the dark years leading up to Hollow Knight Silksong‘s release in 2025, players were desperate for literally any news on when the game was going to arrive. After a while, they would scour every update or teaser trailer for a release date hint — whether it was real or pure copium.
It’s been over 14 years since the last Elder Scrolls game was released, and over seven years since The Elder Scrolls 6 was officially announced. It seems like the long wait has finally turned the community feral, and it’s descending into the same madness previously reserved for Silksong.
After Skyrim got yet another port, this time on Switch 2, a joke in the launch trailer has fans convinced (well, kind of) that ES6 is just two years away.
Elder Scrolls 6 fans think Bethesda just teased a 2027 launch
In the trailer, where Santa’s list is accidentally deleted, one clever elf suggests that they give everyone Skyrim on Nintendo’s latest console for Christmas. The genius idea triggers a pop-up revealing that the elf is level “20,” and that his speech has increased to “27.” You can probably see where we’re going with this.
Now, the TESVI subreddit is flooded with posts from fans who think that this is confirmation of a 2027 release. While some are clearly joking, others are deadly serious.
“I don’t typically jump on the conspiracy bandwagon – that being said, I have always believed TESVI will drop in 2027,” said one post. “This shot is from the announcement trailer for the Skyrim Switch 2 port. Nothing fancy, pretty subtle, but oddly specific and something that seems right up Todd [Howard’s] alley.”

“It is INCREDIBLY specific that it’s level 20 hitting Speech 27,” said another. “So specific that it, surely, cannot be accidental. They could’ve picked any random set of numbers arbitrarily. And it still would fit with Todd saying that the game’s a while away.”
It might seem like a bit of a leap, but a 2027 launch isn’t totally out of the realm of possibility. In an interview, Todd Howard recently said that the game is still a “long way off,” and although leakers claimed that Bethesda were targeting 2028, he deliberately didn’t commit to a timeframe.
That being said, it would definitely be a bizarre place to start teasing one of the most anticipated games currently in development.
Whether The Elder Scrolls 6 releases in 2027 or not, if the discussion around this one trailer is anything to go by, expect plenty more wild theories as the wait continues.
