EA SPORTS/DexertoElectronic Arts has announced that F1 25 will represent both the 2025 and 2026 FIA Formula One World Championships as they work to rebuild the game for 2027.
Instead of releasing F1 26, the company will offer a paid expansion that brings the sport’s major 2026 regulation changes into the current game. The series will return in 2027 with a redesigned entry built around a broader reset for the franchise.
A premium content update is planned for 2026 that introduces the new car rules, updated teams, and refreshed driver lineups. EA says this marks the start of a multi-year shift leading into a new game in 2027 that looks, feels, and plays differently while offering more gameplay choice.
“The decision to offer a premium content update for F1® 25 is part of a strategic reset for the F1® Franchise. In 2027, a new game will be released that looks, feels, and plays differently, delivering more gameplay choices,” said EA in a blog post.

Senior Creative Director Lee Mather said the team remains committed to the long-term future of the series, noting that F1 25’s commercial performance helped set up this strategy.
Codemasters is working with F1 and all eleven teams to shape the 2027 game, which aims to expand on what returning players expect while opening the door to new audiences.
EA Sports F1 25 was released back in May and will be the first game in the series to cover two seasons.
