Larian StudiosThe Game Awards announced a ton of exciting titles, but one stuck out, partly because they used a mysterious giant statue as its promotion, but mostly because it’s Larian’s next big game after the mega hit Baldur’s Gate 3. Well, according to their CEO, it’s about to be “way better” than BG3.
Before Baldur’s Gate 3 took over the gaming world, Larian Studios was deep into its Divinity series, releasing the first back in 2002 and really making a name for itself with the release of Divinity: Original Sin back in 2014. Since then, fans have been obsessed with the immersive world, Baldur’s Gate 3-style gameplay, and stunning storytelling.
Well, Divinity is back after being announced during the 2025 Game Awards, and following an interview with Bloomberg, it seems Larian’s CEO has some high hopes for the upcoming game.
Divinity will be Larian “brought to the next level”
Speaking to Bloomberg, Larian founder and CEO Swen Vincke revealed that fans can expect to see a brand new level of skill in Divinity.
“This is going to be us unleashed, I think,” said Vincke, going on to add that Divinity is still “a turn-based RPG featuring everything you’ve seen from us in the past, but it’s brought to the next level.” So fans can expect to see all the gameplay styles they love from Original Sin and BG3, but refined.
Larian StudiosIn fact, he even promised that “Baldur’s Gate 3 was a good game and I’m proud of it, but I think this one is going to be way better,” which is a huge statement considering many see BG3 as a genre-defining release (we called it ‘one of the best RPGs ever made’ in our review).
He attributed this to two things: the first being that they’re “making a system that’s made for a video game. It’s much easier to understand,” as opposed to fitting the Dungeons & Dragons system and world into a video game. The second is the lack of AI in their voice acting and writing, explaining that “everything is human actors; we’re writing everything ourselves.”

So, while Divinity is certainly still in early development and we can’t expect to see it in 2026, Vincke has assured fans that “three to four years is much healthier than six years,” when it comes to expecting either early access or a full release.
