Dead Island 3 officially in production with release window revealed

Dead Island 3

Dead Island 2 may have only been released back in 2023, but that doesn’t mean Dambuster Studios is planning on stopping there, especially after officially confirming Dead Island 3 is in production.

Dropping you firmly into a zombie apocalypse, the Dead Island franchise isn’t exactly known for its serious or scary gameplay, instead focusing on silly, bright, and creative weapons, locations, and, of course, characters. After all, who wouldn’t want to decimate a zombie with a stop sign or Wolverine-style claws?

Well, following on from the extremely successful games that came before, a third installment is officially on the way, after Dambuster Studios confirmed that Dead Island 3 is in production with a rather distant release window.

Dead Island 3 given a 2028 release window

As revealed in their financial report, the primary focus for Dambuster Studios is now working on Dead Island 3, with the report revealing that “Parts of the game are now in early production with feature, character, world, and story design moving at pace.”

This means they’re extremely early on in the creation stage, which is why they’ve offered a release window for Q1/Q2 of 2028. So, given how early on they are, the multiple-year wait is to be expected.

This also gives us a good estimate of its platforms. It’ll likely be released for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, but given the 2028 release year, it’s expected to see its release on the new generation of consoles, as the PS6 is slated for 2028, along with a 2027 predicted release for the next Xbox.
