Crosse Studios, Fyros Games StudioA game called MATH FPS: Solve Or Die, which requires you to solve math problems while shooting enemies, is now in Early Access.
For some, the sheer thought of “math” might make them break out in cold sweat. But one indie developer is turning that fear on its head by turning math into a full-blown FPS.
Thanks to Carlo_Lax’s MATH FPS: Solve Or Die game, players can sharpen their mathematical skills while also shooting enemies in the face.
According to a Reddit post, the game was originally made for the developer’s kid, who “loves Fortnite but has a hard time getting pumped about math facts.” Now it’s in Early Access on Steam, so anyone can jump in.
MATH FPS: Solve Or Die is a game with an educational twist
In MATH FPS, you’ll be pitted against robots in a zombie-like wave survival mode. Your main objective here is to survive as long as possible.
Each robot has a math problem on its head. To destroy the bot, you need to aim your weapon at the correct answer on its body and shoot it.
The premise is simple, but things get tougher the longer you survive. As long as you aim for the right answer, though, you should be fine.
While the game is currently in Early Access, it already offers different game modes, including Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, and Division.
But if you’re looking for the “ultimate test”, then you might fancy the Mixed Mode, which includes all the problems rolled into one intense gauntlet.
In a Reddit thread, the dev mentioned that they’re hoping to add more features to the game moving forward after receiving feedback. Thus far, the overall reception has been positive, and many have been helpful in sharing their ideas.

One user suggested there should be an enemy that changes the problem every five seconds, for example. Meanwhile, a different user suggested that they could also make the enemy move faster and get “enraged” if you shoot the wrong answer.
