Embark StudiosEmbark Studios has delivered its most unexpected and hilarious patch yet for Arc Raiders, after players spent weeks asking for a fix to the notorious locked door exploit.
The locked door exploit lets players slip through sealed areas by clipping against the doorframe at the right angle. As you can imagine, it became a go-to trick for skipping entire encounters or grabbing loot without having to find a way to unlock the door.
The exploit has been part of the game since launch, and every major update sparked posts from fans begging for a fix. It became one of those running community jokes where everyone expected it to be patched out at any moment, yet it kept surviving each update untouched. That is, until the team patched it in the best way.
The latest Arc Raiders hot fix finally stops locked door exploit
Instead of closing the gap or stopping the issue, Embark Studios shipped a solution that leans more into chaos than anything else. Any player who attempts to use the locked door exploit will now be instantly teleported into the room they were trying to enter. As soon as they arrive, the room ignites, and the player is burned alive in seconds.
The patch notes describe it in plain terms: “Exploit mitigation mechanisms have been added for all locked rooms across all maps,” but the result has already left fans dying with laughter (literally) and rather hesitant to attempt the exploit again.
“This is beautiful. I love it. I love that they didn’t even fix the glitch cause they knew y’all wouldn’t give up,” commented one player, while another praised the decision, saying, “I have to say this is the best implementation game devs used to do this all the time instead of fixing them, they would kill the player or make them automatically lose. This is true game development at its core being revived.”
Others wondered, “What if you go in with full health and purple armor and instantly open the door. Will that shut off the flamethrowers? We need more info.” Whether that works is yet to be seen, but you’ll have to be quick to avoid the hilarious new hot fix.
