If it’s not the constant crossovers that keep players coming back to Fortnite over and over again, chances are it’s probably the themed events. Epic Games likes to give the game a makeover to coincide with the latest holiday, with the Fortnitemares Halloween event always generating plenty of buzz.
But the Winterfest Christmas event is arguably the biggest of them all, celebrating the festive period by showering players with free presents and jolly content.
As expected, it’s set to return once again this year, so here’s everything we know about Fortnite Winterfest 2025 so far.
When is Fortnite Winterfest 2025?
There is currently no official start date for Winterfest 2025, but based on leaks, it will be Thursday, December 18, 2025.
Content was added to the files with the v39.10 update on December 11, and ‘HYPEX’ found that the event will begin “next week.” This was then followed by another leak, seemingly confirming that it’s coming on the 18th.
Winter Hatsune Miku skin leaked
According to dataminers, this year’s Winterfest will feature a festive skin for virtual pop star Hatsune Miku. The Japanese sensation was finally added to Fortnite at the start of 2025 in a hugely successful collaboration, and she’s returning once again this Christmas.
It’s not clear at the moment if this skin will be available from the in-game store or if she will be one of the event’s traditional free rewards. But if you’re a Miku fan who’s been desperate for more, you don’t have too much longer to wait.

Harry Potter crossover
Of all the franchises that have appeared in Fortnite over the years, Harry Potter is arguably the biggest omission. But that wrong is set to be righted in 2025, as a crossover is on the cards during Winterfest.
Epic Games have announced that customizable skins are on the way, allowing players to decide which Hogwarts House they want to represent.
According to ‘HYPEX,’ the collaboration will also include a Broom Mythic, which likely lets players fly around the map.
Christmas Sabrina Carpenter
After first being added as part of Festival Season 8 earlier in the year, leaks have shown that a new Sabrina Carpenter skin will arrive this Winterfest. It will reportedly be a Christmas-themed skin, which could use one of the outfits she wore in her ‘A Nonsense Christmas’ special from 2024.
South Park mini pass leaked
Dataminers have uncovered plenty of other crossovers that could happen during the event, but these are less concrete.
One of the biggest is a full South Park collab, which could come with its own mini pass full of skins, as well as Stick of Truth mythic and a custom Battle Bus. However, it isn’t clear if this will happen during Winterfest or later on in Chapter 7.
Will there be a cabin in Winterfest 2025?
It hasn’t been confirmed if there will be a cabin this year, but it’s expected to return to let players log in and open their daily gifts. Winterfest 2023 dropped the feature, much to the disappointment of fans, instead giving everyone a reward when they first log in.
But last year, the devs decided to bring it back, and you could once again enter the cabin and pick your own gifts, including a free Snoop Dogg skin.
Map changes
One of the most exciting parts of the event is the festive makeover the island usually gets, and 2025 is no different. The map was revealed in a blog post by Epic Games, which showed that the top hlaf will be covered in snow.
You can also expect to see decorations scattered around the map, such as Christmas trees and fairy lights, brightening up each location.
Yule Trooper boss
Another leak from ‘HoloFNBR’ revealed that a new boss will appear on the map called “Yule Trooper.” Although they couldn’t show what it will look like, it appears that it will carry a new Holo Rush SMG that can only be earned by defeating it.
This Mythic weapon has a fire rate that increases when aiming down sights, giving players a compelling reason to hunt the boss down at the start of a match.
