Ocean Spray launches review after TikTokers find water in cranberry sauce cans

Ocean Spray Cranberry Sauce

Ocean Spray has responded after dozens of TikTok videos went viral from users claiming they received water instead of Cranberry sauce.

Ocean Spray is reviewing customer reports after several viral videos showed shoppers opening cans labeled as jellied cranberry sauce and finding only water inside. The clips spread across TikTok, Facebook, and X over Thanksgiving week, drawing millions of views as users questioned what went wrong.

In a statement to People, the company said it is “aware of a few reports about cans containing water instead of cranberry sauce” and is investigating the issue. Ocean Spray said it has contacted the customers who shared the videos to gather details and resolve the problem.

“Millions of families enjoyed their cranberry sauce this holiday season, but even one can of sauce not meeting expectations matters to us,” they added.

Viral posts claim multiple cranberry sauce cans were affected

One TikTok video, which has passed 10 million views, shows a woman opening three separate cans that appear to contain only clear liquid.

Another user on Facebook posted footage of four cans purchased for Thanksgiving that also reportedly held water. She dismissed suggestions that the cans were opened incorrectly and said the products were simply empty of cranberry sauce.

The reports surfaced alongside another packaging mix-up that circulated during the holiday. A TikTok user said a can of Del Monte green beans they opened for Thanksgiving prep contained beets, a video that has gained more than 2.9 million views.
