McDonald'sMcDonald’s is testing a major expansion of its chicken menu, with multiple new sandwiches, strips, wings, and sauces appearing at select US locations.
The test rollout was first shared by food news account Snackolator, who reported that the items are currently being trialed at a limited number of restaurants in the Chicago area. McDonald’s has not yet announced whether the items will receive a wider release.
McDonald’s testing new chicken menu items
According to the post, McDonald’s is testing three new chicken sandwiches. This includes a McSpicy Chicken Sandwich made with a spicy filet rather than just spicy sauce like the existing Spicy McCrispy, alongside a Deluxe Grilled Chicken Sandwich and a BBQ Bacon Grilled Chicken Sandwich.
The test menu also includes six new McCrispy strip options split between glazed and seasoned varieties. The glazed McCrispy Strips are available in Sweet Chili, Teriyaki, and Kickin’ BBQ flavors. The seasoned McCrispy Strips include Spicy Garlic, Sweet Asian, and Garlic Parm.
In addition to sandwiches and strips, McDonald’s is also testing McSpicy Bone-In Wings. The wings utilize the same McSpicy seasoning featured on the Spicy Chicken Sandwich. Big Mac sauce dipping cups are also part of the test, with Snackolator noting they appear to be an app-exclusive offering.
This comes just days after McDonald’s launched its Grinch-themed holiday meal that brought the McShaker fries to the US for the first time, and comes with a limited-edition pair of socks.
