ActivisionIf you want to hit the top of the leaderboard consistently in Black Ops 7 Season 1, there’s one meta Assault Rifle with a ridiculous TTK that’s head and shoulders above the rest.
The Season 1 update shook up the multiplayer meta in a number of ways. Not only did it bring a batch of buffs and nerfs to the existing lineup of guns, but it also threw some deadly new weapons into the mix, giving players a real conundrum when building their loadouts.
But of all the options, it’s the returning Maddox RFB from Black Ops 4 that stands out among the competition, and it’s the only gun you need in Season 1.
Maddox RFB is Black Ops 7’s best gun in Season 1
This full-auto Assault Rifle is unique in the sense that its fire rate increases after every two bullets fired, which gives it an insane time-to-kill of just 249ms up to 25 meters, according to the stats page ‘Warzone Meta.’
Not only that, but it also comes with a 40-round magazine by default, meaning you don’t need to waste an attachment by equipping extended mags. Instead, you can focus on buffing the rifle’s already impressive performance with a grip or mod to make it more accurate or boost the range.
What makes the Maddox RFB special, though, is its unbelievably low recoil compared to other automatic weapons. Black Ops 7 has taken a more measured approach to recoil, with most guns coming with at least some kick to make fights fair, but even with no attachments equipped, the new AR is laser-accurate.
This makes it easy to land shots consistently, allowing you to achieve its rapid TTK much more often than rivals like the M15 MOD 0 or AK-27. I’ve used it virtually every match since Season 1 began and have been able to easily outgun other meta rifles up to 50 meters thanks to just how little movement there is.

Of course, there are still SMGs that top it at close range and Sniper Rifles that can pick you off from incredible distances, but if you want an all-rounder that you can take into every match and not feel like you’re at a disadvantage, the Maddox RFB should be your go-to in Season 1.
