ActivisionThere’s a new weapon dominating the close-range meta in Warzone, but it’s not an SMG; it’s a pair of overpowered akimbo Pistols.
The Warzone meta was blown wide open when it integrated with Black Ops 7 in Season 1, bringing all of multiplayer’s guns over to battle royale. But while there are plenty of competitive weapons, there are some that stand above the rest.
In close-range fights, the MPC-25 and Razor 9mm have been the go-to picks, thanks to their low recoil and high damage.
However, when it comes to time-to-kill, neither holds a candle to the Velox 5.7 Pistol when you use the Akimbo Stock attachment.
Akimbo Velox 5.7s have an insane TTK in Warzone Season 1
Streamer WhosImmortal highlighted the Pistol in an upload to his YouTube channel, where he compared its TTK to the best SMGs in Warzone.
While the top-tier SMGs like the MPC or Carbon 57 all killed fully-played enemies in well over 500ms, the Velox 5.7 had a blistering TTK of just 328ms up to seven meters. In fact, its nearest competitor was the Razor 9mm with 540ms.
It continued to outgun its rivals in its second damage range, killing in 437ms up to 20 meters, while the rest remained stuck in the 500s.
Of course, being an akimbo Pistol, running it does come with some drawbacks. Relying on hipfire makes it very inaccurate, which means you’re unlikely to get the best out of it in fights longer than 10 meters.
However, if you play to its strengths and only use it in very close-range encounters, such as inside buildings when you’ve managed to get the drop on an opponent, nothing comes close in terms of sheer stopping power.

It won’t be for everyone, especially if you run a sniper and like to use an SMG for close to mid-range. But if you run a versatile Assault Rifle like the DS20 Mirage or MXR-17, akimbo Velox 5.7s are the perfect partner in Season 1.
