Infinity Ward has responded to leaks about Modern Warfare 4, with one reliable leaker calling it a “complete copy” of Modern Warfare 2 from 2022.

Even though the Black Ops 7 cycle is in full swing, there have been a few leaks about what’s coming in Call of Duty’s future. Most notably, these leaks have revolved around Modern Warfare 4, as that is set to be the next title in the series from Infinity Ward.

On December 14, reliable leaker TheGhostOfHope added further fuel to the fire by adding to claims that the next Call of Duty release will be a “complete copy” of Modern Warfare 2 (2022).

“There is A TON of visual recoil on weapons in Modern Warfare 4 just like Modern Warfare II. Like I said in my last tweet, it’s pretty much a complete copy outside of a few little things,” the insider posted on X (formerly Twitter), backing up claims from other leakers.

With the Call of Duty community having a few days to stew on those claims, Infinity Ward responded to everything on December 15, with a huge bit of shade.

“Happy holidays everybody! Wishing our community an awesome holiday season and looking forward to talking soon.

“Don’t believe everything you read on the Internet. See you in 2026,” they said.

TheGhostOfHope hit back at that response, questioning why Infinity Ward haven’t downplayed his leaks in the past.

“I have leaked a ton of things about Vanguard, MWII, MWIII, BO6, BO7 before anybody else. Have I gotten some things wrong in the past? Sure no doubt about it and I will own that. But the idea that I make shit up or that I do this with hate in my heart like some people in the replies like to imply is not true at all,” he said.

“The fact that a billion dollar studio has gone out of its way to *generically* deny 2 of my most recent leaks when they’ve never done it before nor towards others is frankly very weird and should raise some red flags about why they’d do such a thing when they never did it before. I have largely kept the same sources for years and my MW4 leak is no different to that. I would never sink my reputation with COD leaking that I’ve built over the years on faulty unverified info.”

The leaker also claimed that there will be further leaks “very soon,” regarding the upcoming game.

It remains to be seen what they are.
